BCBA and BCaBA are two standard credentials mentioned regarding applied behavioral analysis therapy for kids with autism.

Parents of children receiving applied behavior analysis therapy would greatly benefit from knowing the credentials of the therapists who will be overseeing their child’s treatment.

Though the credentials might sound similar, this piece highlights the differences between BCBA and BCaBA and how to earn certification for each credential.

What is BCBA?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst, abbreviated as BCBA, is an accreditation issued to professionals in child care, mental health development, psychology, and communication disorders. These professionals are responsible for conducting behavior assessments and prescribing treatment plans for kids with behavioral disorders.

For the behavioral assessment, the therapists examine the nature and the extent of the disorder and determine the child’s preferences. These findings form the basis for the personalized treatment plan to be implemented to achieve desirable outcomes. BCBA’s can work one-on-one with your child when necessary; however, they mainly play a supervisory role on analysts who work with kids daily, such as registered behavior technicians and BCaBAs.

Though BCBAs can handle several caseloads simultaneously, it is mandatory to have a BCBA in every child’s treatment plan.

How to earn the BCBA certification

To qualify for accreditation in BCBA, you will need to meet the following requirements. The individual must have earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, behavioral analysis, or education from a recognized university.

You must pass the BCBA certification examination as well as meet other minimum eligibility requirements. To earn the certification, aspiring BCBA’s must meet the apprenticeship requirement of working for a set number of hours under the guidance of a fully certified BCBA.

What is BCaBA?

A board certified assistant behavior analyst or BCaBA refers to technicians who work under BCBAs in conducting assessments and developing suitable treatment procedures. The involvement of BCaBAs in applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapy has increased significantly due to rising cases of developmental disorders in schools, homes, and community centers.

It is important to note that according to the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board, BCaBA level holders cannot work independently and mostly work under the supervision of therapists with higher credentials, such as BCBAs. However, BCaBAs can supervise the work of other specialists such as Registered behavior technicians (RBT).

Certification requirements for BCaBAs

To earn certification for this credential, aspiring candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Additionally, suitable candidates must pass the BCaBA accreditation exam issued by the behavior analyst certification board. Lastly, candidates must meet the minimum clinical hours under the supervision of a BCBA.

Children with autism can benefit from working with BCBA or BCaBAs in clinic-based or therapeutic preschool programs. Though often confused for the other, these two credentials offer varying skills and support to patients. It is essential to ensure that the analysts handling your kid’s therapy are qualified and competent to achieve the treatment goals as a parent. You can find more information about these certifications by checking out places like AppliedBehaviorAnalysisEdu.org.

Everyone wants to be their best self. Maybe you have a specific goal in mind that you would like to achieve, such as developing strong leadership skills. And yet, something seems to be holding you back.

At some point in our lives, we have all struggled to reach a goal. Sometimes we just need a little extra motivation in the form of encouraging words from a close friend or family member. Or maybe you have already tried that and it is time to consider getting a life coach. Maybe you have also tried that and are struggling to find something more drastic. Maybe it is time to consider neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) as an option.

NLP is a psychological approach that is meant to help change how you experience the world. Since the way we think transforms the world around us, NLP is all about looking at what strategies other successful people use and applying those same strategies to meet our own goals. It is also thought that NLP can help people overcome mental health conditions, such as depression and phobias.

Further understanding NLP

NLP training allows you to become a better communicator, both with your inner thoughts and with those around you. People tend to focus on the words people say, but effective communication also means reading non-verbal cues, as well as understanding how you’re internally reacting to situations.

With NLP training, you begin to better understand how to access your feelings, reactions, and beliefs during communication. Learning how to access those parts of your mind allows you to develop a mental map that consciously allows you to change a situation. Becoming aware of your subconscious thinking allows you to make better decisions.

Reasons for NLP

There are several reasons why you might consider NLP training. As mentioned above, one reason is that you want to become a better leader. NLP training can help you learn how to become an inspiring communicator. It can also help you become more skilled at reading non-verbal cues, become in better control of your thinking, and how to motivate others. All of these skills can help you become a better reason.

NLP can also help you increase your subconscious awareness, alleviate fears, and better control your emotions. These skill sets can help people to overcome anxiety or depression.

Communication within

A large part of NLP is learning how to better control your inner communication. This means learning to better understand how you process the sounds, images, and feelings around you in situations. For example, if you feel tense at work, it could be because you’re subconsciously thinking of everything that could go wrong.

With NLP training, you begin to recognize those negative inner thoughts and start learning how to change your mindset. Your mindset, feelings, and attitude impact how you interact with the world. But when you better understand your negative inner thoughts, you can find different ways to respond.

Foundations of NLP

Understanding the foundations or pillars of NLP can help you begin to understand NLP training. The four pillars are rapport, sensory awareness, outcome thinking, and behavioral flexibility. Focusing on these foundations will allow you to begin to positively change how you experience the world around you.

By building rapport, you begin to learn how to develop deeper connections with others. Through sensory awareness, you begin to learn how to better pay attention to your senses. Through outcome thinking, you learn to set better goals and make better decisions. And through behavioral flexibility, you learn to adapt your thinking as needed.

NLP training: what to expect

NLP can take place in-person, online, or a combination of both. Most training centers offer four levels of training. Ideally, you’ll stay at the same center for all levels of training. This is because centers use courses that build upon each other.

You’ll start as an NLP practitioner, where you learn the basics of NLP and begin applying them to your life. You’ll then move onto being an NLP master and learn more complex techniques. Finally, you might decide to become an NLP trainer and help others, or an NLP coach and provide life coaching in addition to NLP training.

Final thoughts

For most people, NLP training can transform your life! Becoming more aware of yourself, how you’re reacting to situations, and techniques you can use to change those situations can allow you to start finding ways to meet your goals. If you find yourself needing to make a change, NLP training could be the answer.

Regardless of what kind of ‘business’ you are in, NLP can help you set yourself up for more success. It doesn’t matter if you own a business, are a receptionist, salesperson, parent, artist, coach, trainer, shelf stocker – you are in charge of your mind. A couple of years ago Sarah completed our NLP Level 1 trainings with zero intention to use it in her job because “well, I’m just an admin”; her intention was simply to help herself to communicate better, run her mind/body more effectively and improve her relationships. Well, she did all of that – and more!

With NLP, you’ll not only learn a superb goal setting tool, you’ll also be able to adjust your behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs to match the outcome you want. Sarah learned that in her personal life when she was focusing on what she wanted and when she addressed any blocks or limitations that were stopping her she was able to easily move through them. So, she decided to try her hand at using NLP at work.

She set a Success Goal – her first goal was for others to give her verbal feedback about her improved performance. In reality, she didn’t change her performance at all – she changed her attitude toward her performance! In turn, she began getting positive feedback. Her next goal was to get a promotion to a Senior Administration role – within a few months, she got that! Sarah continued on to the Level 2 NLP training and she learned about the Disney Planning Process and she decided it was time to fast-track her work success since she hadn’t prioritised it earlier in her career. She’s recently been promoted again, this time into the marketing department of her company – she is working directly for the Senior Manager, learning a lot and using her NLP skills every day in her work, and for herself at work.

What you put your mind to, you can achieve – and with NLP you can make sure your success psychology is aligned with what you desire!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a tool that would allow you to easily identify the preferred communication style of another person so you can use their preferences with them? We guarantee it’s a game changer!

Each of us has our distinct preference for how we absorb and make sense of the world around us – through the filters that make up our model of the world. Additionally, we have a way to disseminate information too.

Often what happens when we communicate with others is that we use our own preferred communication style with others, in hopes that they will understand us fully and completely in the way we understand ourselves. That, unfortunately, doesn’t always happen and the other person needs to translate what you’ve said into their preferences – and things get lost in translation.

In NLP we look at a variety of factors which make up a person’s communication style. One of these factors includes the preferential order for processing information through their senses (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, internal dialogue). While some schools of thought teach that you have A preferred communication sense, NLP says you have all of them – in a preferred order!

Another factor is chunk size – does a person communicate in detail or big picture? This is important information. Give a small chunk sized person (detail) too big of a picture, and you’ll lose them completely!

The way a person sorts for information is also important – are communicating about the benefits or consequences? If you tell a consequences person about the benefits of something, it may not even compute!

There are other factors too that NLP looks at, and when you are able to identify these aspects of how a person communicates, you can match their style and preferences and you’ll be communicating with them with their filters – no unconscious translation required!

How many ways are there to bake a cake? Make your bed? Approach conflict? Make a decision? Take care of yourself?

We have found that many people get stuck in their lives because they have only one or two ways to approach life. We, humans, are very ritualistic creatures and many of us like habit and routine to some degree – but if the practices we use aren’t working well, something has to change.

One of the Presuppositions of NLP says the person with the most flexibility will control the situation, and another says the choice is better than no choice.

With NLP, we want to create wholeness and choice through finding alternatives, choices, and options.  If you happen to be a person who gets stuck because you keep trying to do something in the same way – it might be time to do something different! And, by that, we don’t just mean something different through your behaviors! We mean changing your psychology!

As we write this, there are approximately 7.5 billion people on earth. That means there are at least 7.5 billion different ways of doing something. NLP will help you to find at least a few.

You will be learning and using NLP tools to help you to create a new perspective, generate a new behavior, change old patterns of emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. You’ll also be addressing beliefs that may interfere with flexibility and create a more flexible approach to life.

There is a great quote – be stubborn about your goals and values, be flexible in your approach.

Fears are a natural and important aspect of life – at their core fears exist to keep us alive. If you think of the ‘flight or fight’ mechanism that is built in within all of us, this is generally triggered by a fear of sorts.

And, while fears are a normal part of life, and can be quite useful – they can also get in our way and interfere from us achieving what we truly want and desire. Many fears are mostly irrational – I can’t think of a single case in history where someone has been killed by public speaking, for example!

Regardless of if a fear is rational or irrational, NLP can assist you to overcome any fear that is holding you back. It might be a fear of public speaking, fear of not being good enough, fear of failure, fear of heights, spiders, dogs, mice, etc. – they can all be transformed using NLP.

Simply – everything in our awareness (physical or mental) goes through a filtering process based on our history, beliefs, ideas, values, and concepts of life and our brain automatically creates and secretes a chemical for everything. For fear, two main hormones are created and released – adrenaline and cortisol, the more chemicals released into your system, the stronger the fear will be.

Various NLP techniques will help you to address, change and re-evaluate past events, beliefs, values, ideas, and emotions to create a new neurological connection. This, in-turn changes the chemicals your brain creates and secrets. So, if a person did have a fear of public speaking – NLP could address the patterns of emotions, behaviors, and thoughts so that public speaking no longer triggers the reaction of fear!

A great thing to keep in mind when talking about fears – you are in charge of your mind and therefore your results! If fear is not serving you in your life – you have the ability to change it.

There is vast / unlimited scope for research in NLP / NEURO. It is a giant unexplored zone carrying limitless mysteries. All inventions and discoveries take birth somewhere in brain. Its range of thinking and extent of flight knows no limits. The richness of life is directly linked with the quality of thoughts emerging in the brain / mind. The consciousness has many layers. The conscious, sub-conscious, under-conscious and over-conscious etc. are the layers. Some of our thoughts are stored in the deep memory and require deep mining when needed. The USA under the leadership of Barak Obama has recognized the importance and hidden potential in making deep and wide studies and researches in the field of brain / mind. In the future many riddles and puzzles of life may be further uncovered and unfolded. The medicine branches have deep connections with the NLP , and these branches are particularly eugenics, science of anti-aging and genetics etc. Many of the secrets pertaining to ageing may be made known in the coming days . As there are the number of organs , so are the AGING CLOCKS. Such as biological clock pertaining to body, mental clock pertaining to mind / brain / neuro. There are genes, DNA, cells, tissues in the body , which need to be in the healthy condition to prolong aging process and arrest fast aging. We need to understand as to what relationship is there between NEURO & AGING. Many of the secrets may get highlighted in the future.

Better the NEURO health , the better conditioning and programming of the L & P in NLP is possible. In NLP the alphabet N stands for NEURO , the alphabet L stands for Linguistic and the alphabet P stands for programming. The quality of two alphabets L & P will depend on the quality of alphabet N phenomenon. In NLP first alphabet is most important. As everything follows from alphabet N which means NEURO. NEURO IS THE CONTROL ROOM.

There are research publications on NLP such as ACUITY, RAPPORT Magazines and other research journal. NLP has wide applications in business, education, leadership, management, sports and health etc. It is touching almost all areas of life and impacting the same widely and deeply. NLP has close links with Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and other Neuro-sciences. NLP has lead to various breakthroughs in life in the past and present and in future we have lot of hopes which may get highlighted in future studies and researches. There is need for attaining NLP training excellence. We need to achieve newer and higher milestones, benchmarks and landmarks in NLP.

Our mind is like a computer, hence programmable. NLP is the software and you are the programmer. NLP has immense potential to make a huge and positive impact on all areas of society and life. It can play a crucial and critical role in making the life more healthier, happier, fruitful, rich and better. NLP has the potential to bring a sea change in our life. There is need for more of literature and journalism in the field of NLP. And that is possible when more of such courses, workshops and seminars are conducted across the globe and recorded and documented.

There are two types of categories of assets , the one is physical and human assets and the other is performing or standard assets and the nonperforming assets , which is from the return / dividend / yielding angle. The physical and human assets are from the objectivity and subjectivity angle respectively. The nonperforming assets can be further divided in to substandard, doubtful and loss assets. The physical or human assets too can be either performing or nonperforming. But human factor is the single key & sole factor which is managing all assets. The quality of human factor is of utmost importance in any human endeavor. Quality / skilled human assets can take the organization to the climax level. Physical assets in itself are not capable of doing anything. The work on the same is done by human assets. Only performing and standard assets generate real income. Only human factor adds value to physical assets. Mobility and movement are the quality signs of assets. The more these are there the more of quality is ensured. The more returns and productivity leads to more of profitability. In banking industry before the prudential norms for asset classification and income recognition came in to the limelight , the health code system was prevalent from HC-1 to HC-8. The health codes started from standard to loss assets. In between were viable, non-viable, nursing, suit-filed, non-suit-filed and decreed accounts etc. Standard or performing assets can also be called as regular and substandard as irregular. In the prudential norms the interest income is related to recovery from business sources only. As the banker interest lies in the running unit. When the unit runs, the income is generated and from that only the interest shall be recovered.

How to save the human resources from turning in to NPA. It is through skill formation , training and development (SFTD). If human assets go NPA, then physical assets are definitely likely to go NPA. The human factor can be assigned targets quarterly / half-yearly or annually by getting the Key Result / Responsibility Areas (KRA) , signed by employees . The performance linked promotion policy to be chalked out. Such systems are already prevalent but needs to be executed seriously. The annual exercise Ongoing Performance Appraisal System ( OPAS), shall be submitted by the employees to the management through HOD of employees and the same shall be appraised on the basis of performance of the employees in KRAs. A fool-proof system of pluses and minuses to be evolved, wherein the star-performers will be suitably awarded and rewarded , motivated and recognized through the transfer and promotion policies and the non-performers and under-performers to be suitably punished and demoted . We can take a positive route to bring the best results and returns by motivating the employees by making them to think about bettering their own lives. Nothing is impossible in this world provided one has a CAN MINDSET. There is no problem in the world which does not has a solution across the table. In due course all the things have the potentiality to come on the track / rails and to fall in line / order.

Top management to best manage their human resources , so that they in turn can best manage physical resources and benefit self and others. THIS WAY ALL WILL DEVELOP.
