3 Ways to Attract & Drive New Clients to your Shopify Store - for FREE

Through my time in the eCommerce space, as both a Shopify employee and Shopify expert, I've noticed something... The hardest part of eCommerce sales is finding and then attracting new customers. As product-based entrepreneurs, we have big dreams - selling worldwide, opening a brick-and-mortar, or enjoying that laptop lifestyle while our business runs itself and we get our tan on. I feel you on that one, especially being part ginger.

Unleashing the Power of Free Tools

What we often miss out on and overlook is the potent force of free tools already at our fingertips. Today we'll explore three impactful strategies to attract and drive new clients to your Shopify store, all without pulling a dime out of your piggy bank.

1. Local - Harnessing the Reach of Facebook

Expand your customer base by tapping into the local market. Here's where the familiar platforms of Facebook (FB), your FB shop, and Marketplace come into play.

Utilize Your Facebook Page Effectively

  1. Optimize Your Facebook Page: Ensure your page is complete with all necessary details, an engaging profile picture (most likely of your logo), and a compelling cover photo (show of your products, don't make it boring!)
  2. Regular Updates: Keep your audience engaged with consistent and relevant updates. Share behind-the-scenes glimpses, customer testimonials, or new product launches. Tip: If you treat where you share like a friend, rather than a chore, it becomes way easier to know WHAT to post.

Leverage the Power of Facebook Shop

  1. Set Up Your FB Shop: If you haven't already, create a Facebook Shop. This integrated feature allows customers to browse and purchase products directly on your Facebook page. Tip: Shopify allows you to connect your already curate collection of products from your Shopify store with your Facebook Shop Page. This not only saves times, but creates a secure checkout. Go to Settings > Sales Channels & Apps to see if you have the Facebook Sales Channel installed (sometimes called Facebook & Instagram).
  2. Product Showcase: Regularly update your Shopify store and push these updates through the Facebook App to show off featured products. Use high-quality images and compelling descriptions to captivate potential customers. Again, no one wants something boooring.

Explore the Potential of Facebook Marketplace

  1. List Your Products: Extend your reach by listing your products on Facebook Marketplace. This platform connects you with local buyers who might be actively seeking what you offer. And yes, I know, people can be extremely annoying on Marketplace but it's worth seeing if this avenue can lead to more eyes on your products and more cash in your pocket.
  2. Engage with Customers: Respond promptly to inquiries and engage with potential clients. Building a positive rapport can turn one-time buyers into loyal customers.

2. Set Up Google My Business for Local Visibility

Google My Business (GMB) is a powerful tool that can significantly boost your store's local visibility.

Optimize Your Google My Business Profile

  1. Complete Your Profile: Fill in all the necessary information, including your store's location, business hours, and contact details.
  2. Customer Reviews: Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews. Positive feedback enhances your store's credibility and attracts potential clients.

Leverage Local SEO

  1. Use Relevant Keywords: Incorporate relevant keywords in your business description, services, and posts. This helps Google understand what your store offers, improving search visibility.
  2. Regular Updates: Keep your GMB profile updated with the latest promotions, events, or product launches. This keeps your audience informed and engaged.

3. Unlock Instagram's Potential through Your Bio

Your Instagram (IG) bio is a powerful space that can directly drive traffic to your Shopify store. Win-win! ;)

Optimize Your Instagram Bio

  1. Shopify Integration: Use the 'Website' section of your bio to link directly to your Shopify store. This streamlined approach makes it easy for potential clients to explore and make purchases. Tip: Want to make it even more impactful? Link directly to a product that you want to sell, or a collection of items you want eyes on. Create a unique and captivating intro in the last line of your IG bio then update your link. See this in action in my own profile:
  2. Engaging Bio Copy: Craft a concise and engaging bio that highlights your brand's uniqueness. Use emojis, hashtags, and a clear call-to-action to encourage visitors to check out your store (or product)

Seize Opportunities for Free Growth

Ultimately, attracting and driving new clients to your Shopify store doesn't always require a hefty marketing budget. By leveraging the power of local platforms like Facebook, optimizing your presence on Google My Business, and strategically using your Instagram bio, you can unlock growth opportunities without spending a dime. Let me know, is there something else you recommend to your fellow Makers, Artists and Artisans for boosting organic traffic? I'd love to add it (and give you a shout out!).

Keep kicking butt! ❤️
